That makes 18 Senators for Obama, 13 for Clinton. IMHO, this speaks volumes
Thanks to Bob Johnson, via Demconwatch

UPDATE III:
Statement:

To make progress, we must rise above the partisanship and the issues that divide us to find common ground. We must move the country in a dramatically new direction.

I strongly believe Barack Obama is best positioned to lead the nation in that new direction.

This is something he needs at the moment.  He's lost his mojo and his momentum.  Wright is taking over right now and he needs something positive related to politics.  It's odd.  I think this is his lowest low at the moment, it wasn't even this bad when the Wright story broke.

This administration is not sinking. This administration is soaring! If anything, they are rearranging the deck chairs on the Hindenburg!

Re: Breaking: NM Sen. Jeff Bingaman to Endorse Oba (2.00 / 3)

It means a lot when the people you've worked with in the Senate clearly prefer Obama.

Re: Breaking: NM Sen. Jeff Bingaman to Endorse Oba (2.00 / 1)

The amazing thing is that Clinton has been in the senate longer than Obama, but he continues to lead her in senate endorsements.

I wonder if Richardson influenced him at all in this...

Re: Breaking: NM Sen. Jeff Bingaman to Endorse Oba (2.00 / 1)

Richardson doesn't control everyone in New Mexico.

Remember, Bingaman, despite being our junior senator, has been in the Senate since 1983.  He was first elected the same year Richardson first was elected to the House.

So, no, I think Bingaman thought for himself on this one.

Check out how he's described (and the link below takes you to his endorsement statement as well):

S/en. Jeff Bingaman (D-NM) has been in the Senate for 26 years and has bulldogged his way to (near) the top of the ladder in terms of who his colleagues respect./

Re: Breaking: NM Sen. Jeff Bingaman to Endorse Oba (none / 0)

Just interesting.  The race was close in New Mexico but you'd think Clinton would get some credit for victories at some point.  Plus she carried Hispanics heavily there - which is their #1 growing demographic.  Not saying supers should go with demographics, but even in states where she trounces Obama like Oklahoma and Massachusetts she is not getting any love.... at some point if you don't go with the will of constituents (in a primary season that is already heavily biased towards Obama) you are just asking for a loss in November.

Well I'm not happy considering Clinton won New Mexico.

Other NM Senator (2.00 / 1)

This is important because the other NM Senator has retired and a Democrat could pick up a GOP seat. Bingaman clearly feels that Obama will help him capture that seat.

As for the primary in NM, it was essentially a tie. I don't think Bingaman could have sensed a mandate to go with Clinton. Brad Henry on the other hand...
